Green Solvents and an Improvement of Solub Web site Abstract Hundreds of thousands of Québec workers are regularly exposed to organic solvents. Inflammable, toxic and harmful to the environment, these solvents are often replaced by others characterized as “green.” However, in doing so, occupational health and safety considerations are sometimes set aside in favour of protection of the environment—which can leave workers exposed to toxic substances. This purpose of this research is to produce a monograph on so-called “green” solvents, produced mainly from renewable resources. This work will help eliminate confusion about “green” solvents in the workplace and prevent substitutions that would mean occupational exposure to toxic substances. The monograph will be integrated in the Solub website in a major site upgrade that will help keep the site attractive and increase its use in concerned work environments.
