Length of compensation periods by sex and age group: Analysis of differences and changes over time Abstract Length of compensation periods for accepted lost-time occupational injuries has been on the increase for a number of years. It is also generally longer for women than men and tends to increase with age. Certain factors, particularly permanent physical or mental impairment and rehabilitation, affect benefit duration. This study attempts to identify the factors associated with the increase in length of compensation periods and the gender and age differentials by examining lost-time occupational injuries accepted by the Commission des normes d’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail du Québec (CNESST) between 2005 and 2012. The results will help in determining research avenues for certain target groups based on length of compensation periods.
