Knowledge Transfer Activity: Inventory of Silencers, Blowers and Compressed Air Guns Abstract The widespread, multi-industry use of compressed air tools, particularly for cleaning or dedusting parts and workspaces, generates risks for both the health (occupational deafness) and safety (thrown objects) of workers.Devices exist that reduce noise and the risk of injury, specifically silencers, blowers and vacuum guns. In addition, the Répertoire des silencieux, soufflettes et pistolets aspirateurs [Inventory of silencers, blowguns and vacuum guns] is available on the IRSST’s website. However, consultants for joint sector-based associations where these devices are commonly used have stressed the need to facilitate the dissemination of such information and provide field practitioners with the means to assist and reinforce the safe use of such devices. The team will develop a general document that will present in simple terms the legal aspects, the tools and their uses, as well as a video illustrating the content of the general document in different work situations.
