Fatigue risk management system for patrol car officers

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to equip police departments with scientifically validated fatigue management tools to reduce the risk of work-related incidents and accidents associated with fatigue.

In continuously operating systems like emergency services, a number of factors cause physical and mental fatigue in workers. Night work and shift work disrupt sleeping and waking patterns, which can significantly increase the risk of accidents and incidents, as well as reducing productivity and affecting the overall health of workers.

The study will determine and measure key factors influencing the fatigue of police officers on the job. These factors will be incorporated into an analysis grid enabling police departments to quickly identify situations likely to generate low, moderate and high levels of fatigue. This grid will facilitate the implementation of appropriate interventions for minimizing the risk of fatigue-related incidents and accidents.
