Indicators of compensated occupational injuries: analysis by industry and occupational category, Québec, 2005-2007 Abstract This study is part of the IRSST’s 25 years of continuing work on measuring the frequency and severity of compensated occupational injuries. This statistical surveillance must continue because, with the economy and labour market constantly changing, it is important to periodically examine the emerging changes that can have an impact on occupational injury risks. This statistical portrait will present risk and severity indicators by industry and by occupational category, as well as for certain specific populations, including workers from 15 to 24 years of age, workers 45 years of age and older, and men and women. These indicators will be used to determine the groups of workers most at risk of suffering an occupational injury. The study will also present the distribution of compensated injuries by body part affected, the type of accident or exposure, as well as the nature and causal agent of the injury or the disease. Researchers, professionals and research managers are using the results of these statistical analyses to obtain an overall picture of the situation and to plan scientific activities and preventive actions for targeted groups.
