Development of vibration and acoustic diagnostic methods for portable pneumatic nailers Abstract Portable pneumatic nailers are used in many workplaces but expose workers to impulse noise and vibration, putting them at risk of developing occupational diseases such as deafness and hand-arm vibration syndrome. The researchers propose to develop tests reflecting nailer use in companies and experimental methods for measuring noise and vibration produced by these tools, identify propagation mechanisms and recommend ways to reduce them. This study will also be used to develop guidelines for OHS professionals on the least vibrating and quietest portable nailers on the market.
