Characterization of acoustical and mechanical performances of silencers, blow guns and vacuum guns - 2006 directory Abstract Equipment powered by compressed air is often noisy but can be equipped with mufflers. However, the effectiveness of the latter varies greatly. This is also true for blowers and compressed air guns. This document presents the results of measurements obtained on equipment tested in 1995 and still available on the market, as well as the measurements obtained on 91 new blowers, 22 new mufflers and 6 vacuum guns. The report contains a user’s guide for each class of equipment, developed from these results. These guides address the potential risks related to the use of the equipment and identify the least noisy models of blowers based on the tasks to be performed.
