Development of a manual handling training program

Abstract

With load handling recognized as a hazardous activity, several workplaces are training their workers in safe techniques. This training, however, is only yielding ambiguous results for the reduction in back injuries. The researchers will look again in depth at the way learning is designed and offered, in order to then develop an innovative training program that integrates the knowledge of expert handlers. Adapted to the specific requirements of the activity for which workers are to be trained, the highlight of this training will be that it is inspired by the knowledge acquired during action, while taking different contexts into account. It will thus respond to the needs of workplaces demanding training that corresponds to their reality. The new training can then be implemented so that its impacts can be evaluated.
