Development of the profile of accidents related to industrial machines from 1990 to 2004 and analysis of serious and fatal accidents from 1984 to 2004 Abstract Annually, Québec has more than 12,000 accidents involving industrial machines. The statistical data do not describe their circumstances or processes. The researchers will first analyze CSST compensation data in detail in order to describe the evolution of these accidents between 1990 and 2004 as well as to produce their general portrait and that of the sectors and demographic groups involved. They will also identify detailed information in the investigation reports of serious and fatal accidents that occurred from 1984 to 2004, and will then establish their typology by taking into account the task, work organization, technical equipment, etc. This project’s findings will provide a better understanding of the accident processes and guide future research and preventive actions involving industrial machines. Particular attention will be paid to young workers.
