Feasibility study for the production of annual occupational health and safety indicators Abstract While statistical analysis can help in the planning of orientations and in determining priorities in occupational health and safety (OHS) research or intervention, the means currently available to the IRSST in this regard have temporal and methodological limitations. The researchers will study the feasibility of creating annual surveillance indicators for the IRSST’s fields of research. They will attempt to establish a reliable method and will explore sources of alternative data on the workforce. The validated indicators will then be used to produce annual frequency and severity rates for the occupational injuries of groups of Québec workers, and thus to detect fluctuations, and over the medium term, trends in OHS. The IRSST favours such a structured approach to statistical surveillance to support its strategic orientations and thus to respond effectively to its partners’ needs.
