Case study: contribution of different sources of data to an ergonomic intervention to prevent musculoskeletal disorders Abstract Studies have investigated the usefulness of different methods of collecting ergonomic data, but none has until now determined their contribution to an efficient ergonomic intervention. This project was the a posteriori follow-up to an ergonomic intervention project in a company. It critically analyzed the contribution to the intervention of nine sources of data regularly used in ergonomics, from the musculoskeletal disorder symptom questionnaire to interviews with different players in the company, and including systematic observation procedures. The authors’ conclusions stimulate thorough reflection, which identifies the main characteristics, advantages and limitations of the different sources of data in the context studied. From this standpoint, ergonomists can gain much from the results, but also practitioners and researchers in other fields.
