Integration of ohs in the design of recycling plants

Abstract

A self-evaluation checklist intended for recyclable material sorting centres is the result of two studies carried out by the IRSST, in collaboration with the Association sectorielle Transport et entreposage (Transport and storage sectoral association) and the Association paritaire pour la santé et la sécurité du travail du secteur des affaires municipales (Joint occupational health and safety association, municipal affairs sector), as well as with CSST inspectors. It is a help tool for evaluating the actual prevention situation in sorting centres. Each element in the checklist can orient the reader towards a solution to be implemented to correct or control a health or safety problem, while making it easier to establish priorities and develop an action plan. The document is divided into eight chapters that discuss biological, chemical, physical, ergonomic, mechanical and operations-related hazards, fire prevention, means of collective and personal protection, training, information and supervision.
