Study of the application of preventive measures in the construction industry

Abstract

For about twenty years, the construction industry has been the subject of much research, and the CSST has increased and varied the types of interventions in order to reduce the risks of occupational accidents. These efforts have produced results and the number of accidents on Québec construction sites has been reduced considerably. However, the number of accidents is still high, so this sector must increase its efforts in order to reduce the considerable difference that still separates it from the other sectors. A research team wanted to identify the conditions likely to affect the application of preventive measures.
In this report, the conditions are grouped according to whether they relate to the general context, the business context, the construction site, the group participants and the individual. The results are presented in relation to a theoretical breakdown proposed by the author. Proposals are also made to promote the application of preventive measures.
