IRSST - Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail

According to Decree 280-2024 published on February 28, 2024, in the Gazette officielle du Québec, the amendment to the Appendix 1 of the Regulation respecting occupational health and safety (RSST, RLRQ, c. S-2.1, r. 13) will come into force on March 14, 2024. These regulatory changes have not yet been incorporated into the current Substance Data Sheets of the Sampling Guide for Air Contaminants in the Workplace. An update is currently underway and will be available as soon as possible. Consequently, the information contained in the data sheets of substances modified or added in Decree 280-2024 is partially inaccurate or incomplete. Please consult our infoLABO (in French only) for more details. Please contact our client service: [email protected] for further information.

Matière organique totale

Method: IRSST - 381
Sampling device:
Sampling media required:
#IRSSTDescription
937 PTFE filter, 37 mm, 1 µm, preweighed, with Orbo 42L tube

Parameters:
Flow rate: 1 L/min
TWA sampling volume: 250 L
STEL sampling volume: -
Remarks: See InfoLabo 2016-02 for more information.
Principle: Gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC-FID)
Precision (%): 5,9
Minimum reported value: 20 µg
Remarks: The IRSST 381 method uses a sampling train consisting of a cassette that will collect particles, followed by a sampling tube that will adsorb the vapors. This tube is directly connected to the pump by Tygon tubing. Gravimetric analysis of the filter yields a result directly comparable to the TWAEV for asphalt (petroleum) fumes. For more information, refer to the IRSST method 48-1. The results issuing from IRSST method 381 are expressed in total organic matter based on a hexadecane calibration (C16) and are not comparable to the TWAEV of asphalt (petroleum fumes). IRSST method 381 is based on the MetroPol Fumées de bitume M-2 method of the INRS (France), 2016 edition.
