In its Workplace Exposure Standards and Biological Exposure Indices guide published in November 2018, the New Zealand Government proposed several models, including the “IRSST ‘QUEBEC’ MODEL”, for calculating the adjusted average exposure value (AAEV) for workers with unusual work schedules. This applies notably to workers who work more than eight hours a day or more than 40 hours a week.
While some of New Zealand’s AAEVs differ from those in Québec, the online tool available on the IRSST website allows users to make the necessary adjustments to comply with the New Zealand legislation.
