Le pronostic occupationnel des travailleurs aux prises avec des affections vertébrales Résumé Plus de 80 % des coûts associés aux maux de dos chez les travailleurs sont attribués à une minorité de cas nécessitant un arrêt de travail de plus de six mois. Les auteurs ont suivi, sur une période de deux ans, quelque 1 000 travailleurs souffrant de maux de dos, dans le but de mieux comprendre les conséquences fonctionnelles des affections vertébrales et d'analyser l'importance relative des déterminants d'un retour au travail en bonne santé. Ces travaux ont également permis de construire et valider un outil prédictif simple qui facilite l'identification des personnes qui présentent un risque élevé d'absentéisme prolongé afin de leur offrir rapidement les interventions appropriées et ainsi favoriser une utilisation plus efficace des ressources consacrées aux affections vertébrales.
