Montreal, August 19, 2019 – The Chair of the Board of Directors of the Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST), Ms. Manuelle Oudar, is pleased to announce that Ms. Lyne Sauvageau has taken up her duties as the IRSST’s new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective today.
With a doctorate in Public Health from Université de Montréal and a master’s degree in Political Science from Université Laval, until very recently Ms. Sauvageau was Vice-President, Education and Research, at Université du Québec. She also held the post of Vice-President, Programs, at the Fonds québécois de la recherche – Société et Culture (FRQSC) for five years.
Ms. Sauvageau plays an active role in her community. For example, since 2011, she has participated in work done by Acfas, where she became a member of the Board of Directors in 2015 and then Chair in 2018.
Since 2017, she has sat on the Scientific Advisory Board of Érudit, whose mission is to provide centralized access to more than 200,000 scholarly and cultural publications in over 30 social sciences and humanities disciplines. Between 2016 and 2018, Ms. Sauvageau was also a member of the Executive Committee and served as Chair of the Alliance of Canadian Comprehensive Research Universities (ACCRU). Over the years, she has received several scholarships, including one awarded by the former Department of Health and Welfare Canada in the context of a national program for health development research.
