The Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST) will serve as one of the vice-chairs of the International Section of the ISSA (International Social Security Association) for Research on Prevention of Occupational Risks. IRSST president and CEO, Marie Larue, will represent the IRSST on this subsidiary body.
The Bureau of the International Section for Research on Prevention of Occupational Risks, chaired by Stéphane Pimbert, director general of France’s Institut national de recherche et de sécurité pour la prévention des accidents du travail et des maladies professionnelles (INRS), also retained the applications of the Institute for Occupational Sécurity and Health (NIOSH) of the United States and the Workplace Safety and Health Institute of Singapore.
“It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome this appointment, particularly as the aims of the International Section of the ISSA for Research on Prevention of Occupational Risks align with the IRSST’s philosophy, among other things, with regard to interfacing between the research and work communities, cooperation among research centres, and the commitment to ensuring more effective transfer of scientific knowledge to preventionists and OHS professionals,” specified Ms. Larue when she learned of this decision, which consolidates the IRSST’s reputation on the world stage.
The IRSST finds itself on familiar ground, having chaired the International Section of the ISSA on Education and Training for Prevention from 2004 to 2009.
