Analysis of the implementation of an intervention programme for back disorders associated with patient-handling Abstract Since 1988, the Joint Sectoral Health and Safety Association - Social Affairs Sector (Association de santé et de sécurité du travail du secteur des affaires sociales (ASSTAS)) has implemented the Back Accident Programme/Occupational Accident Reduction Programme (Programme sur les accidents au dos/Programme de réduction des accidents de travail (PAD-PRAT)) in over 110 health-care establishments. This project will evaluate the manner in which this programme, notable for its scope and duration, has been implemented. The following points will be studied: 1) Was the intervention model applied as intended? 2) Did implementation of the programme in keeping with the model result in the expected reduction of back disorders and improved case management of injured workers? and 3) Was implementation of this programme in keeping with the model a necessary condition for the achievement of the desired results? The results of this evaluation will further our understanding of the implementation of participatory ergonomics programmes and the achievement of their goals.
